The objective of this course is to provide an introduction to the IMDG Code (International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code), covering its origin, structure, and most importantly, how to consult it when questions arise regarding the transport of dangerous goods. The course will address key topics such as:

  • What constitutes limited and excepted quantities
  • How dangerous goods are segregated within a single transport unit
  • The criteria for segregation of dangerous goods on board ships
  • Required documentation for containers carrying dangerous goods
  • What must be submitted to the Master and why
  • Labels and markings that must appear on containers
